Mr. Manish Sanwal

Mr. Manish Sanwal, Associate Partner with L. S. Davar & Co., is a registered Indian Patent Agent and is doubly qualified as a lawyer (LL.B.) with a graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering. He holds a Bachelors of Technology (B.Tech.) in Mechanical Engineering and a degree in Bachelors of Law with Honours in IPR laws from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He has more than 10 years of rich experience in patents and Design-related work. He handles patent searching, drafting and prosecution in respect of Mechanical and allied branches related to technology. He is also part of the litigation team and regularly advises clients in respect of contentious matters before various administrative forums as well as before Hon’ble District Courts/ High Courts across India.

He works closely with several national and international clients for managing their patent portfolio. He has worked closely with various national and international clients and advised them at various stages of an invention right from conception of an invention till the end of the term of 20 years of a Patent. He has conducted various searches and drafted multiple Provisional/ Complete specifications related to various technological areas including Mechanical and allied branches of technology. He has prosecuted more than 1000 patent applications related to various technological areas such as mechanical engineering, package manufacturing, textiles and electronics and telecommunications networks, automobile electronics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, etc.

Apart from representing clients during prosecution and oral hearings pertaining to patents applications before the Indian Patent Office, He has also assisted clients in Patent-related Contentious matters across different forums such as erstwhile IPAB and different High Courts. He also has rich experience in drafting technology transfer licenses/agreements and due diligence of IP-related clauses of commercial transactions.

He has a keen interest in IP law/policy-related developments in India and has co-authored various articles in reputed international journals, magazines and blogs.
