Mr. Rahul Sharma

Mr. Rahul Sharma, Associate Partner with L. S. Davar & Co. is a 15-year experienced patent specialist and agent in Indian Patent Regime. He is a qualified Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics and Communication) from the University of Rajasthan and holds an Advance Post Graduate Diploma in VLSI design awarded by ISRO (previously Semiconductor Complex Limited, Punjab, India). He is a Registered Patent Agent (India), and a Master in Law from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi; and an LLB from the Faculty of Law (Univ. of Delhi) with a specialization in Intellectual Property Laws. He is also enrolled with the Bar Council of India as a practicing lawyer. His expertise, opinions span across technical domains such as Electronics, AI, Software, Electrical, Electromechanical, etc. The same encompasses innovation strategizing, conducting workshops and inventor interviews, lending patentability and licensing opinions.

As a technologist, he has had his stint as a circuit designer and programmer. As a patent practitioner, he works closely with industrial giants that are diversified across a plethora of avenues such as software, automobile, communication systems, mobile applications, manufacturing and consumer electronics.

Apropos of practicing before PTOs, he is a seasoned professional when it comes to appearing before Patent examiners in India and also lending support to attorneys overseas (USPTO, EPO, Canadian, etc) for drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications. He actively brainstorms and deliberates with counterpart Patent agents/overseas attorneys to strategize with due diligence and quality checks. Currently, Rahul handles both in-person and diverse portfolios as a lead. To name a few, the same includes patent drafting prosecution, Freedom-to-operate studies, Standard Essential Patents (SEPs), patent oppositions, appeals before the High Court, etc.

For creating awareness, he has been invited by industries (national and multi-national), and industrial forums (e.g. FICCI and ASSOCHAM) to share opinions and deliberate over matters concerning Patents and ancillary issues. Further, law and engineering colleges in and around NCR (Delhi) have been frequented by him to adjudicate innovations and ideas formulated by budding entrepreneurs, faculty, techies and students. Likewise, he writes for various forums, journals and magazines concerning Patent Law in India and abroad and frequently emphasizes upon software-powered inventions.
