He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Electronics and Communication from VTU, Bengaluru, a Master of Technology (M.Tech) in power electronics and electrical drives from IIT(ISM) Dhanbad, a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from IIT Kharagpur and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Jindal Global Law School, Sonepat. He applies his techno-legal background in electrical, electronics, mechanical, ICT, software and other "hi-tech" technologies to patent matters. His practice encompasses myriad aspects of patent laws, with an emphasis on patent analytics, drafting, prosecution, patent litigation, client counseling, and advisory on patent protection, commercialization and litigation strategies.
He comes from a strong techno-legal background with specialization in handling clients across multiple industries including, software, clean energy and renewables, steel, mining, automobile, communication systems, electrical equipment, mobile applications, manufacturing and consumer electronics.
He has demonstrated experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, particularly for INPTO, EPO and USPTO. He also handles and manages complex patent litigation matters across Districts Courts and High Courts in India. He actively contributes to the evolvement of patent jurisprudence in India through advocacy in courts, sensitization programs and talks at multiple forums. He also writes for prestigious magazines and blogs and is often invited to comment on topical issues.
Currently managing a wide variety of portfolios, including patent drafting and prosecution, Freedom-to-operate studies, advisory on international patent filing strategies, licensing support, IP transactional agreements, Standard Essential Patents (SEPs), patent oppositions, appeals before the high courts, revocations, infringement suits, patent office relationships and client advisory on patent related matters to Indian and foreign corporates, start-ups, academic institutions, MSMEs, individual inventors and government.
